There are several construction methods used in the VJ-22.
* The fuselage is is constructed primarily of stika spruce covered in aircraft grade mohagany plywood. It is then covered in fiberglass cloth to protect the hull.
*The rudder, elevator and horizontal stabilizer is welded 4130 steel. Also Aeronca tail sections were used on the original.
*The wings have several options. The original used a pair of Aeronca wings which have metal ribs with a wooden spar. Also included in the plans are the option for wooden built up ribs with a wooden spar, all scratch-built.
* The landing gear are retractable welded 4130 steel with bungee suspension.
* The engine is mounted on a pylon made with welded 4130 steel.
